Definition of Wellbeing
Wellbeing is the experience of health, happiness, and prosperity. It includes having an awareness of feelings and emotions as they relate to mental health and the ability to manage stress and thrive. It is an inner sense of vitality and purpose.
Self-Awareness
Thriving leaders reflect routinely and acknowledge gratefulness. They understand what they value and how they perceive the world, which enables them to accept the differing values and views of others.
Community
Thriving leaders foster community and a sense of belonging. They acknowledge being part of something larger than themselves and are driven to connect with others and reconnect with themselves.
Movement
Thriving leaders recognize the benefits of movement and how it stimulates both the body and the mind, as well as nourishes the spirit. Yoga, Tai Chi, meditative walks, dance, jumping rope, hula hooping, jogging/walking, weightlifting, swimming, chopping wood, hitting a punching bag, are examples of movements which attend to one’s spirit.
Presence
Thriving leaders are aware of the moment and are truly engaged in what is happening. They leverage mindfulness and other ways to connect inward to seek a response rather than a reaction.
Intuition
Thriving leaders realize that they can know something to be true, even when they don’t know how they know. They recognize synchronistic events and information from their body as knowledge.
Energetic Hygiene
Thriving leaders are aware of the energy field that supports their body, mind and spirit and develop practices to tend to this vitality.
